Tubular metal, steel, foam, upholstery
Made in The Netherlands by Artifort

The Artifort Vega collection, designed in 1997 by Jasper Morrison, is very close to the heart. The original Vega design was intended as a contract proposal. In 2015 Vega was revisited to create an even more stunning collection that is suitable for homes as well. With a focus on more environmentally friendly production methods, Artifort has developed a system of powder coating that is more sustainable than traditional steel chroming. The state-of-the-art powder coating facilities give Vega a sleek and fresh finish.

Born in London, Jasper Morrison studied design at the Royal College of Art and at the HdK in Berlin. Editor of the Design Year Book in 1999 with a passion for the history of design. Morrison's objects provide a quiet contrast to the creative exuberance of the Eighties. The visual restraint, high functionalism and constructive simplicity attract attention to his work.

The Vega collection can be specified in a variety of upholstery options and features a base and metal bow powder-coated in a choice of colors.

Jasper Morrison

Jasper Morrison (b. 1959) is an English product and furniture designer from London. He received a Bachelor of Design degree from Kingston Polytechnic Design School in 1982 and a Masters degree in Design from the Royal College of Art, London, in 1985. He also studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, formerly the Hochschule der Künste (HdK). While a student, he gained a keen interest in modernist pioneers, such as Buckminster Fuller, Gerald Summers, Jean Prouvé and Le Corbusier. Morrison's objects provide a quiet contrast to the creative exuberance of the Eighties. The visual restraint, high functionalism and constructive simplicity attract attention to his work.
The foundations of Artifort were laid by Jules Wagemans. In 1890, he set up business as an upholsterer in Maastricht. His son, Henricus Wagemans, expanded the company into a furniture factory, which had a showroom in Amsterdam by the end of the 1930's and was already well known nationally. The economic recession of the nineteen thirties forced H. Wagemans & Van Tuinen, as the furniture company was then known, to create a distinctive profile. The emphasis came to lie on functionality, comfort, and quality combined with aesthetically pleasing design and an innovative use of materials. The new brand name became Artifort, derived from the Latin word 'ars' meaning 'art or knowledge', and 'fortis' meaning "strong or powerful."
