The work of Milan’s Alessandro Mendini has greatly helped to develop Italian design. He became a leader in his field by pushing boundaries and challenging convention, helping to bring about the 1970’s Radical Design movement. Thinking beyond furniture Mendini also created graphics, interiors, paintings, and architecture. He authored several articles and books and juried architectural competitions. In 1982 he co-founded the the Domus Academy.
