Osvaldo Borsani
Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) kept close family ties. The son of furniture craftsman Gaetano Borsani, he joined the family business as a furniture designer after completing his degree at the Politecnico di Milano. Throughout the 1940's and early 50's, Borsani produced a large body of work including case goods, storage pieces, and seating. Especially noteworthy was his 1946 wall-mounted shelving system. In 1953, Osvaldo and his twin brother Fulgencio founded a firm called Tecno which became known for its technology and research based approach to furniture design, as well as its use of rubber and foam. Tecno was at the forefront of a post-war design movement that experimented with ideas of utopia and extreme modernity.
