borsani d70 reclining sofa
Design Osvaldo Borsani, 1955
Metal structure, fabric or leather
Made in Italy by Tecno
In the course of the company's long experience, Tecno has created solutions that have become archetypes in the world of furniture. These solutions, which are still just as valid today, are now collections that represent natural additions to the executive furniture for private, office and public settings, where ergonomics and design combine with functionality and beauty.
The D70 sofa was born to fit a precise customer’s brief: enjoy the window lake view during the day and relax at the fireplace view at night. From this, a special steel shield mechanism was designed that enables the adjustment of the seat and back allowing it to be fixed at different angles as far back as completely transforming the function of the model. The base is offered in satin nickel or painted black. It is finished with a removable cover in either leather or fabric. The collection is completed by the P40 lounge.

Osvaldo Borsani
Borsani produced a large body of work including case goods, storage pieces, and seating. Osvaldo and his twin brother Fulgencio founded a firm called Tecno which was at the forefront of a post-war design movement that experimented with ideas of utopia and extreme modernity.
Tecno has established a reputation for innovative design, particularly in the use of metal frames and polyfoam upholstery. This reputation was boosted by participation in the Milan Triennale of 1954, where visitors could see the flexible D70 divan-bed. This was followed by the highly versatile P40 lounge chair, which could be adjusted to a variety of seating and reclining positions.
