I use this as a combination desk/sofa table. With it located behind my sofa, which is in the middle of the room, I can sit at the desk and look out over the sofa and see what's on television while I use my laptop. When I wheel the office chair away from the desk, it remains a beautiful sofa table. The build quality of this piece is amazing. It's incredibly sturdy with a minimalist steel structure. The quality of the thick leather on the top surface feels like it will last a lifetime and looks great. The storage space accessed from the top of the desk is very thoughtfully done and very handy to keep my laptop and small electronics to hand in a compartment made of the same thick leather. The storage space includes a small pass-through for electronics cables. This desk would also work well against a wall or window where space is tight. This is one of the best pieces of furniture I've ever owned, versatile and beautiful, and I adore it.
