Artist Achille Castiglioni had a knack for offering a new perspective on the most humble of objects. Here, the result feels especially "meta" as he plays with the concept of light through a recreation of a light bulb.
Simple, functional and very decorative, the Lampadina or 'bulb' is partly sandblasted to diffuse light and mounted on a tape reel style base which houses the excess power cord. On/off switch on lamp holder.

MoMA in New York features 14 of his works. He has also been the recipient of numerous awards, including 9 Compasso d'Oro.

I hesitated buying this light after I read the other review but was is so cute and stylish, I had to have it. I solved the weight problem by using museum/candle wax. It's very sticky and you have to be careful what you stick it to, but works perfectly for this purpose. My adorable little light is sitting on a stack of books on a low African stool, the top book has a plastic cover....problem solved...yay. I'm giving it 5 stars for price, style, height, and ease to turn on...love the low profile with my low bed. I bought the black & silver.
Lovely petite lamp with simple lines. Sheds a surprising amount of light for its size. The bulb is frosted on one side and clear on the other which is a nice touch. Cord neatly wraps around the base for storage. I wish I had read the weight of the item. It is so lightweight I’m afraid it will break if I were to brush by it. You really have to consider its weight when you place it somewhere. I wanted it on a bookshelf but I’m afraid it will be easily knocked over if a book tips even the slightest bit. Or if you accidentally pull on the cord, the fixture could slide over and possibly fall off whatever surface its on. Sadly, this piece is not practical for this reason alone. Would give this five stars if it had a more substantial base or at the very least some rubber feet so it would stick to surfaces a bit better. I will probably add some myself.
