mick stool
by Niels Bendtsen from Montis
mick stool
Design Niels Bendtsen, 2008
Upholstery, matt chromed or black metal base
Made in Holland by Montis
With his roguish 'lips' Mick seems to always welcome us with a broad smile.
Many modern homes are equipped with comfortable kitchens where people not only eat their meals but also can sit back and relax as well. It is these types of kitchens Montis had in mind when they designed 'Mick'. With a seat consisting of two hollow, geometric shapes, the stool gives your body the kind of support you need, providing firm seating despite the stool's compact size. The small, solid seat is luxurious with beautifully detailed upholstery. You can use any high quality leather cover by Montis to customize Mick to your style.
Niels Bendtsen lives and works in Vancouver, Canada. He was educated at institutes in both Copenhagen (Denmark) and Vancouver (Canada). The 'ribbon-chair', designed by Niels, is exhibited in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Niels Bendtsen
Bendtsen gained valuable skills and a respect for hand-built traditions as an apprentice, and was intrigued by new technologies. Between 1963 and 1972, Bendtsen had his own retail store where he sold imported Scandinavian designs. He designed small items for the store, but it wasn't until he was in his early thirties that he truly began designing furniture.
Montis stands out with unique color combinations and the use of various leathers. Montis sets itself apart from its competitors and achieves high comfort by often applying techniques that came to be regarded as distinctly Dutch.
