noguchi prismatic table
Design Isamu Noguchi, 1957
Coated sheet Aluminum
Made in Germany by Vitra
Designed in 1957 for an initiative exploring new uses for aluminum, the Noguchi Prismatic Table spent nearly fifty years as a prototype before Vitra brought it to production in 2002 in collaboration with the Noguchi Foundation. The current edition, reintroduced in 2023, honors Noguchi's original tri-color vision with three versions, each composed of three folded aluminum elements in graduating shades of grey.
The design is pure Noguchi: geometric yet organic, functional yet unmistakably sculptural. Inspired by Japanese paper folding, three independent powder-coated aluminum pieces join to form a three-legged table with a hexagonal top. Place one alone as a striking accent, or arrange several together to reveal the kaleidoscopic, tessellated patterns Noguchi originally envisioned.

Isamu Noguchi
Noguchi designed lighting and furniture which were sculptural. In 1947 Noguchi began a collaboration with Herman Miller and collaborated with George Nelson and Eames to produce what is often considered to be the most influential body of modern furniture.
