Castore is a series of table, floor or pendant lights which offer diffused incandescent or halogen lighting. The spherical diffuser design is enhanced by a removable-fitting and tapering luminous stem, making a gentle transition from the strong diffuser light to the blind lamp structure area. Castore terra 35 and 42 have a touch band on the stem for the storage of the latest light intensity set-up The spherical diffuser features white hand-blown glass, with external etched finish, the stem in steel tubing, covered by a tapered sleeve in white translucent molded polycarbonate, allowing for partial soft diffusion of light from the diffuser. The base is in die-cast metal alloy with white powder coated finish. Available in two sizes.
Michele De Lucchi was born in 1951 in Ferrara and graduated in architecture in Florence. During the period of radical and experimental architecture he was a prominent figure in movements like Cavart, Alchymia and Memphis. De Lucchi has designed lamps and furniture for well known Italian and European companies. The firm's philosophy is rooted in the search for deep interaction between architectural thinking, industrial design and global communication.
