plate table 710
by Jasper Morrison, from Vitra.
plate table 710
Design Jasper Morrison, 2004
Aluminum & tubular steel frame, Carrara marble, oak or MDF top
Made in Germany by Vitra
In keeping with Jasper Morrison's philosophy of 'super normal' design, his Plate Tables are characterized by an unassuming, classic shape and finely balanced proportions. Available in different sizes, the tables derive their charm from the successful interplay of subtle curves and precisely defined edges. The refined base and the thin table top in premium solid wood (oak - oiled or dark oak - protective natural lacquer finish), marble (brushed & waxed) or powder-coated MDF form a harmonious whole, yet are clearly distinct from each other. The base can be specified powder-coated in either white or basic dark with a textured finish.
The dimensions of the Plate Tables are coordinated so that several tables can be grouped together to form a large surface area or to create diverse arrangements. This flexibility offers ideal solutions in regard to both size and shape for the requirements of different interiors or for unusual sofa configurations.
Jasper Morrison's objects provide a quiet contrast to the creative exuberance of the Eighties. The visual restraint, high functionalism and constructive simplicity attract attention to his work.

Jasper Morrison
Jasper Morrison (b. 1959) is an English product and furniture designer from London. He received a Bachelor of Design degree from Kingston Polytechnic Design School in 1982 and a Masters degree in Design from the Royal College of Art, London, in 1985. He also studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, formerly the Hochschule der Künste (HdK). While a student, he gained a keen interest in modernist pioneers, such as Buckminster Fuller, Gerald Summers, Jean Prouvé and Le Corbusier. Morrison's objects provide a quiet contrast to the creative exuberance of the Eighties. The visual restraint, high functionalism and constructive simplicity attract attention to his work.
Vitra is a Swiss company dedicated to improving the quality of spaces through the power of design. Product longevity is central to the company goal of sustainable development. Short lived styling is avoided in favor of classical pieces of furniture that can be used for decades, have several owners and end up as part of a collection.
