Bassa Coffee Table
from Bernhardt Design
bassa coffee table
Design Claudia Surrage & Christian Cowper
Solid ash, steel
Made in USA by Bernhardt Design
Bassa is an unusual marriage between the futuristic vision of UFO's and the clean aesthetics of contemporary Scandinavian design. The solid bowl-shaped top contrasts with the thin round legs, heightening the design's tension.
Playfully forging a path between art and design, Claudia Surrage and Christian Cowper established Studio Claud Christian, an award-winning British workshop representing their collaborative partnership. With a bold and honest focus on natural materials, their approach to design celebrates a distilled simplicity of proportion and form. The duo's work spans a wide range of creative fields - from furniture, lighting, and product design, to sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry. Since collaborating, the duo has received numerous international awards, such as John Lewis x Umbra - Design for Small Space Living in 2018, IMM Cologne Pure Talents in 2019, and Ein & Zwanzig (One & Twenty) World's Finest Design Talents by the German Design Council in 2020.
The collection of occasional tables is designed to function individually or as a grouping. Bassa table tops feature a solid ash or spun stainless steel brushed with a low sheen clear coat. The stainless-steel base features nylon, non-marring glides and is available polished or matte black.
