Striad 3 Seat Sofa
by Jehs+Laub from Herman Miller ®
striad 3 seat sofa
Design Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub, 2016
Flexible inner shell from natural fiber composite material, aluminum, upholstery
Made by Herman Miller
A distinct presence, sleek and contoured form, and premium comfort, Striad contemporizes the concept of a sofa. Inspired by the construction of high-performance ski boots, Stuttgart-based designers Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub designed the Striad Collection in layers to deliver a premium experience of comfort. The outermost layer, a rigid shell, is merged with an inner shell constructed of a natural fiber composite material, which is then fully upholstered. Topping both are deep-set, dual-density cushions that add supple support. Upholstered in a choice of fabrics or leathers.
Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub live and work in Stuttgart, Germany and have been renowned for their modern classic furniture and lighting designs as well as interior projects, most notably, suite 606, at the ice hotel in Northern Sweden and the worldwide master concept for Mercedes-Benz showrooms. After attending Germany's prestigious school of design in Schwäebisch Gmuend, the team cemented their friendship during an internship in new York and later founded jehs+laub in 1994. The partnership has been the recipient of numerous international design awards.
