Airfield is a hand-tufted reinterpretation of Astrid Sampe's classic rug from the '50s in worsted wool and linen. The original design was in line with her vision of creating contemporary rugs in a world that quickly evolved after the war. Airfield's unique design includes a pattern inspired by airport runways, asphalt and white-striped brake tracks.
Sustainability is rooted in Kasthall's history from the beginning and continues today in their work and ambition to contribute to a sustainable future. They use a circular approach to design and a fully-traceable supply chain to reduce the impact on people and planet. It is part of their commitment to local Swedish production and a made-to-order system that creates less waste. Kasthall uses third-party environmental declarations and assessment to ensure reliability.
The rug is made from wool yarn (90%) and linen (10%), custom sizes are available, please contact Hive for assistance ordering sizes not shown online. Depending on the natural materials used and the varied hand-crafted processes in production, dimensions of the rug may vary by up to 2%. Pile height is approximately 0.6".
