Bocci 57.1 Single Pendant Lamp

bocci 57.1 single pendant lamp
Design Omer Arbel, 2012
Blown glass, braided metal coaxial cable
Made in Vancouver BC by Bocci
Multiple blown-glass spheres converge to create the abstracted cloud-like form of 57. A fabrication process whereby air voids of different sizes and configurations are composed within a larger mass of dark grey or white opaline glass. These air pockets are invisible when the piece is unlit, and come alive to reveal an interior universe when 57 is illuminated. By virtue of the method of making, each 57 is completely unique. Much like the rest of the Bocci Collections, the 57 is available in a wide range of different configurations including hanging pendants (up to 36 shades), floor, table, and wall mounted versions.
57 captures Bocci's commitment to an exploratory, maker-led process. The glassblower decides where to place each sphere, and when and how to manipulate the form using heat. The maker's mood and vision that day determines the pendant's final shape. No two 57 are exactly alike. The series takes on further character according to the suspension system and whether grey or opaline glass is selected. Certain arrangements of 57 feel like a bank of roly-poly clouds, others like a network of mushrooms, and some like swarms of otherworldly creatures.
Bocci recommends mounting transformers remotely in a close, accessible and hidden location for ease of long term maintenance. Installation to be done by certified electrician to ensure code compliance. Shallow canopy attaches directly to a standard junction box. Mini canopy (57.1m), mini outtie canopy (57.1mi) & mini innie canopy (57.1mo) require transformers to be remote mounted and a drywaller to provide a finished look. Unless otherwise specified, one transformer is sent for every 5 grouping of pendants. Please call the hive showroom with any questions or for assistance ordering options not shown online: 1-(888) 938-7044.
