Skagerak Riviera Lounge
from Fritz Hansen
skagerak riviera lounge
Design Povl B. Eskildsen, 1990
FSC™ certified teak
Skagerak by Fritz Hansen
The multifunctional Riviera Lounge is based on the original Riviera Sunbed, which can expand in length. Here, the expansion is not in length but in width, enabling the lounge elements to serve as a chair and table, a sofa or a level surface that will serve as a sunbed.
Form does not follow function. Form and function go together. That is how Povl B. Eskildsen describes the essence of designing. And he is a man who knows what he's talking about, for he has created a long line of strong designs for both Danish and international companies. He was born in Jebjerg, Denmark, close to the Limfjord and qualified as an architect from the School of Architecture in Aarhus, Denmark, in 1986. Since then he has worked as an independent designer on creating designs that reflect the present-day age and lifestyle.
Teak is a heavy, hard and sturdy type of wood. The high content of natural oils makes it highly resistant, perfect for functional everyday items in your home such as household articles and furniture. Skagerak FSC™-certified Teak comes from Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica and Indonesia. As the wood is untreated the surface will patina and change color over time into a beautiful silvery grey. To maintain untreated wood, it is a good idea to use sandpaper (grit 120-150) once or twice a year.
