remo chair
Design Konstantin Grcic, 2016
Polypropylene, metal frame
Made in Italy by Plank
"I wasn't convinced it could work: to take the geometry of a plywood seat shell and turn it into a plastic injection molding....Thanks to the "unorthodox" transition from a wooden chair to a plastic one, we have unintentionally created a simple and beautiful plastic chair - one that we would never have done otherwise." -Konstantin Grcic
The inspiration for Remo is derived from its aesthetic, the seat resembles a paddle or oar. Remo in Italian means "oar." The chair' defining feature is a sophisticated interlocking joint that attaches the curved shell of the seat and the horizontal back rest to form a T shape.
Konstantin Grcic trained as a cabinet maker at Parnham College in England and studied design at the Royal College of Art in London. Since setting up his own practice, Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID), in Munich in 1991 he has developed furniture, products and lighting for leading design companies. Many of his products have received international design awards and form part of the permanent collections of the world's most prestigious museums.
Remo plastic chair is stackable up to 12 chairs high and features a metal frame in chrome or powder-coated for outdoor use.
21.6" w | 18.9" d | 30.75" h | seat: 17.75" h
