cila polypropylene armchair with seld base

Design Lievore Altherr Molina, 2018
Polyurethane, Steel sled base
Made in Italy by Arper

A simple gesture, a sensuous feel. The fluid form of Cila was inspired by the image of layers of cloth enveloping the body. Its silhouette of smooth lines retains a graphic character from its distinctive curve - the most essential symbol of shelter. Like being protected, like being held.

The polypropylene shell, both in its chair and its armchair with armrests (for extra comfort and functionality) versions, can be combined with all the existing bases of the Cila collection (steel 4-leg base, steel sled base, wooden 4-leg base, aluminum trestle base with or without castors) in ever-changing configurations. Available in five color finishes and with optional upholstery, it can be easily combined with the other Arper collections. An optional seat cushion in a range of colors lends greater plushness to the supportive form.

The Cila polypropylene armchair with sled base is offered with either a chromed or powder-coated steel sled base. The Polypropylene shell is available in various colors. Seat cushion can also be specified for added comfort.

Altherr & Molina Lievore

Lievore, Altherr, & Molina was created in 1991 by the merging of its three experienced designer partners: Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr, and Manel Molina. This prolific design group has designed products for Arper and is also known for interior design, and packaging. Beyond their own design, the studio deals in the consulting and art direction of various companies, always offering customized solutions. They extend this knowledge into a dedicated teaching practice too, offering seminars and training to new professionals through universities.
Arper's origins are of a leather workshop founded by Luigi Feltrin, the company President. His passion, supported by innovations from his sons Mauro and Claudio, give Arper their distinct place in the design world. The company's scale grew in the late 1990's when they began using new materials and technologies, as well as due to a collaboration with the firm Lievore Altherr Molina. Among the classics that came from this collaboration is the Catifa chairs, which are available in 5 different versions and have sold over a million units since 2001. Today, Arper's policy is focused on environmental quality and sustainability, while using low-emitting recyclables.
