The Canevas Geo collection, an asymmetrical piece with an aesthetic based on color patterns that play overlap. Depending on the density or the orientation of the stitches, the patterns intermingle generating, different effects. It is embroidered by hand with stitches in multiple directions. Its design evokes cultivated fields seen from the air.
Charlotte Lancelot was born and raised in Brussels, where she studied industrial design at the Higher National School of Visual Arts of Cambre. After graduating in 2003, she worked at the office of architect and designer Alain Berteau for two years, before founding her own studio. The work of Charlotte Lancelot is characterized by a deep contemporary revision of traditional techniques and references to the past with new textures and color palettes.
Canevas Geo is a completely different application of the possibilities offered by this technique, devised by designer Charlotte Lancelot. A contemporary revision of cross-stitching in which the pattern is embroidered on a perforated felt base using thick threads of colored wool. It is a series composed of rugs and cushions, made by Indian artisans using 100% virgin wool.
