plex™ table
from Herman Miller ®
plex™ table
Design Sam Hecht & Kim Colin, 2016
Frame, wood legs, plastic legs or casters, upholstery
Made by Herman Miller®
The Plex family is made up of just six elements - each with an identical base - that can be combined to create everything from armchairs and sofas to ottomans and benches. This base, along with the chair's compact footprint, simplifies space planning and allows for greater density in a workplace. A choice of legs, casters, and swivel bases makes Plex even more flexible, letting people change arrangements as needed. This flexibility is ideal for educational environments like student unions, libraries, and workshops.
Designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin to nest closely to Plex seating, these light-scaled tables have a fixed-height surface that fits neatly over armrests, and a low-profile base that straddles chair legs. At 17 inches in diameter, Plex Tables are large enough to easily accommodate a laptop. Table can be specified with either a laminate or veneer top and include a .75" exposed plywood edge. Also offered with an adjustable height.
From armchairs and sofas to ottomans, benches, and tables, the Plex family of modular furniture gives people supportive comfort for work in a variety of settings.
fixed height plex table: 25.5" h | top: 17" dia. | base: 13" dia.
adjustable height plex table: 23.5" - 28" h | top: 17" dia. | base: 13" dia.

Herman Miller was a West Michigan businessman who helped his son in law buy the Michigan Star Furniture Company in 1923. De Pree had been working at the company since he was hired in 1909 as a clerk. De Pree knew his father in law as a man of integrity so he decided to rename the company after him. By the middle of the 20th century the name Herman Miller had become synonymous with modern furniture. Working with legendary designers George Nelson and Charles & Ray Eames the company produced legendary classics of industrial design.
