A luxurious upholstered bed with elegant simplicity achieved through the clever use of superb materials. Solid American black walnut or American white oak legs in a unique wishbone shape elegantly raise the slender body of the bed. Optional side tables in solid American white oak or black walnut connect intuitively to the underside of the bed.
De La Espada is a groundbreaking design management firm and leading modern woodworker with a dedicated factory in Portugal. Highly skilled craftspeople combine noble materials, traditional joinery, handcraft and advanced technology to realize each design to the highest standard. De La Espada puts the author at the forefront and values the modern artisan. They partner with designers who art direct, curate and design their own product lines, and support them through manufacture and distribution.
Matthew Hilton graduated with a degree in Furniture Design from Kingston Polytechnic in 1979. He went on to design products for a variety of well known manufacturers. In 1985 Matthew set up the Matthew Hilton Design Studio. He has also been given the highest honor in the field of Industrial Design in the United Kingdom, by being named a Royal Designer for Industry in 2003. In September 2007, Matthew established his own brand, Matthew Hilton Limited as a place he could have complete creative control. In 2008, he was named Designer of the Year by Elle Decoration at the British Design Awards.
Available in American black walnut, American white oak, or European Ash in a range of finishes, and a range of fabric and leather options. Platform base is made from advanced black dyed wood composite with an oil & wax finish (small wood fibers are visible on surface for a natural look). NOTE: The platform surface is smooth, so we recommend a mattress upholstered in cotton or other non slip material. Assembly required.
Please note: when using leather to upholster the expansive surface of the headboard, the manufacturer will use their discretion to ensure the natural variations in the hide's color and grain are most elegantly displayed. This may mean adding stitch lines to the headboard.
