vika fully upholstered lounge chair
Design Monica Förster, 2010
Upholstery, fiberglass, polished stainless steel base
Made in USA by Bernhardt Design
In northern Sweden, braided rivers carve through the land creating an ever changing landscape alive with motion. In her first major collaboration with an American company, Monica Förster brilliantly captures the beauty of this geographical phenomenon in the undulating shape of the Vika Chair.
Creator of many renowned objects in contemporary Swedish design today, the Vika is Förster's first American product. Förster is internationally respected for her creativity and innovation. As a designer for Cappellini, Modus, Poltrona Frau, Swedese, De Padova, and Zero, Förster has been the recipient of numerous awards such as: 2007 Elle Interior Designer of the Year; Designer of the Year, Sweden 2006 and 2007; Best Product 2005 Time Magazine; and Wallpaper Design Awards 2010.
Vika is a perfect piece for creating an interesting landscape in a room. The chair's organic lines enable it to be grouped easily, and the comparatively tall back interrupts any sense of visual monotony in a space. The gentle radius of the back creates a feeling of privacy without inhibiting conversation. A generous seating area, a self returning swivel and the flexibility of the shell allows subtle movement and enhances the comfort of the chair. Beautiful saddle stitching and a stainless steel base provide final detailing to the piece. Vika comes standard in two versions: a high gloss white fiberglass exterior shell with a fabric or leather interior, or this model with a fully upholstered exterior and interior.
Combination fabrics & leathers may also be specified, please call for details. Vika is Level I & Greenguard certified.
33" w | 33.4" d | 34" h | seat: 13.9" h
