los andes side table
Design Ignacia Murtagh
Solid walnut frame, walnut veneer top
Made in USA by Bernhardt Design
Inspired by the lush landscapes and natural elements of the Andes Mountains, nature and modern design take shape in Los Andes tables. Los Andes features an asymmetrical rim that encircles the top's perimeter, mimicking the peaks and plateaus of the rugged Chilean mountains.
Ignacia Murtagh is a designer from Santiago, Chile. Her designs mix cultural, historical, and theoretical aspects. Murtagh earned her bachelor's degree in design at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Following graduation, Murtagh continued her education at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Furniture Design and the Royal College of Art in London in Ceramic Design Post Experience Program. Upon completing the program, Murtagh interned with the Royal Crown Derby, a bone china manufacture in Derby, UK.
Her source of inspiration is found by experimenting with materials and techniques, the limit between handmade process with mechanization and industry, developing objects that create an aesthetic experience, and opening the user to the essence of the object beyond its functionality. Her work includes ceramic, product and furniture design that clearly communicates cultural aspects brought up-to-date for modern times and needs. Her ceramic background is slip casting in bone china, porcelain and stoneware.
Los Andes side table is available in two sizes along with a coffee table size.
