Solid oak wood

"I work with things that have a meaning to me. My general idea is always to have a clear argument legitimizing the designs that I make. Function is essential, and if I cannot formulate a good reason for a new product, it is better to refrain from making it" -Cecilie Manz
Essay is an exclusive table series in solid wood, created by the Danish designer Cecilie Manz. What distinguishes Essay is its solid yet light design. The design is a perfect example of Cecilie Manz' approach with its simple lines and sparse form. The table consists of three elements - a table top and two bases - in a simple and natural construction that gives it both an elegant look and flexible functionality. The table is perfect as the gathering point for any home where family members, friends and guests meet.
Danish born Cecilie Manz chose design as her living when she began studying at the Danish School of Design in 1992. In 1998, a year after she graduated from school, she started her own studio, Manz Lab, and it's been the center of her work ever since. Cecilie Manz has exhibited all over the world and is permanently represented in the exhibitions of MOMA and the Danish Design Center. She has has been awarded several significant prizes for her conceptual designs.
