Steel frame, multi-density structural foam, upholstery
Made in Italy by Bensen

The Sleeper is a contemporary sofa that easily converts into a single bed. Conventional sofa-beds involve complex, heavy systems of springs and levers that require several motions or placements. The result is inadequate spring suspension and poor cushioning that compromises comfort in sleeping or sitting. What differentiates the Sleeper from other sofa-beds is that the fully supported foam seat and back change position in one smooth motion.

Visually, the Sleeper has uncompromised clean lines, balanced proportions, tailored details, and a low profile that fit in any environment. The unique mechanical hardware is buried with only a hint to its presence, leaving the aesthetic appearance uncompromised.

The Sleeper starts with a welded steel frame that provides strength, while maintaining a rigid base that will not deform over time. The steel frame provides lightness in weight, relative to dimension, for easy movement. Layers of different densities of high resilience seating foam provide maximum support and comfort. Fabric covers are easily removable for cleaning, being secured through a Dacron undercover and a "hook and loop" system that ensures a tight fit. Additional or replacement covers can be ordered and back cushions are also optional.

The Sleeper's dimensions are perfect for small spaces combined with throw cushions and removable covers in a vast array of different fabrics, the Sleeper will fit into any environment. Sofa includes 2 matching multichambere down feather filled back cushions. Chrome or black nickel steel legs. Some assembly required.

Niels Bendtsen

Bendtsen gained valuable skills and a respect for hand-built traditions as an apprentice, and was intrigued by new technologies. Between 1963 and 1972, Bendtsen had his own retail store where he sold imported Scandinavian designs. He designed small items for the store, but it wasn't until he was in his early thirties that he truly began designing furniture.
The Bensen philosophy balances simplicity and honesty. Designer Niels Bendtsen trained as an apprentice with his father building Scandinavian furniture and gained skills & respect for hand built traditions.
