king everest bed

king everest bed

Design Niels Bendtsen, 2011
Steel, wood, upholstery, hydraulic lift mechanism
Made in Italy by Bensen

Everest is a modern upholstered bed with concealed storage, defined by its distinct headboard. A sleek tubular steel frame supports any king size mattress and lifts up to reveal a large storage compartment. It utilizes a European mattress support system that eliminates the need of a box spring and features an integrated steel frame, hydraulic lift mechanism, and curved wooden slats that can be adjusted for desired lumbar support.

The headboard is intentionally tall to provide full head support while sitting up in bed, while the gentle wedge shape of the lower half offers welcome lumbar support and imparts its appearance with a modern attitude. This unique design allows for an angled headboard while maintaining a small footprint suitable for use in small spaces.

Both the headboard and bed frame are constructed of laminated wood and multi-density foam for added comfort. Covers are attached with velcro and are removable for cleaning or replacement. An additional headboard protector cover is also available in white cotton, or matching fabric or leather (please call for details). Large metal corner brackets make assembly easy and ensure the bed remains solid and silent over time. The inside of the storage compartment is carefully detailed with a durable black fabric and grey laminate floor panels that are easy to clean.

* Please note: the hydraulic lift mechanism can only support mattress & bedding up to a 140lb. max weight. Mattress not included. Assembly required.

Niels Bendtsen

Bendtsen gained valuable skills and a respect for hand-built traditions as an apprentice, and was intrigued by new technologies. Between 1963 and 1972, Bendtsen had his own retail store where he sold imported Scandinavian designs. He designed small items for the store, but it wasn't until he was in his early thirties that he truly began designing furniture.
The Bensen philosophy balances simplicity and honesty. Designer Niels Bendtsen trained as an apprentice with his father building Scandinavian furniture and gained skills & respect for hand built traditions.
