Sunset Rug
from GAN
sunset rug
Design Alejandra Gandía-Blasco Lloret
100% wool
Made by GAN
Hand knotting the color of sunset. The Sunset rug, hand-knotted in virgin wool, translates the study of light and its materiality carried out by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco into a design object. The interdisciplinary creative takes another step in her exploration of making the intangible tangible, beginning with a photographic series in which she portrays sunrises or sunsets as abstract elements that allow light and color to be explored.
Alejandra Gandía-Blasco Lloret graduated in Fine Arts from the UPV in Valencia. With training in Design and Communication at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and the University of Barcelona, she joined the company Gandia Blasco S.A. in 2012. In 2017 she took the position of Creative and Communication Deputy Director of the company and Creative Director of Diabla.
An interdisciplinary creative and plastic artist, she develops her work from the visual arts and collective memory, applied to the design of objects and communication. Her work, linked to light and nature, has been part of national and international exhibitions. Her furniture and object designs have been awarded in various competitions, including NYCxDesign, DNA Paris Design Awards, European Design Awards, and German Design Awards.
