Madison Grace is a hand-tufted rug with bouclé yarn in two equal pile heights. The surface consists of three threaded wool yarns that create a cohesive melange in a grid pattern with broad and delicate lines. Maja Johansson Starander found inspiration for Madison in urban environments and architecture. The rug's sturdy quality gives it a robust and harmonious look and feel. For the updated collection 2023 Madison, evolves into Madison Grace with added linen yarn. The new rug has a glossier surface and a more cohesive color mix. The shine is especially prominent when you notice the reflections from the rug's linen bouclé loops.
Maja Johansson Starander is educated at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London. When completing her master's degree, Maja contacted Kasthall's then lead designer, Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg. They built instant chemistry and shared the same design philosophy. Thus, she decided to leave the design capital of London, moved to the small town of Kinna, and began working as an in-house designer at Kasthall in 2013.
Sustainability is rooted in Kasthall's history from the beginning and continues today in their work and ambition to contribute to a sustainable future. They use a circular approach to design and a fully-traceable supply chain to reduce the impact on people and planet. It is part of their commitment to local Swedish production and a made-to-order system that creates less waste. Kasthall uses third-party environmental declarations and assessment to ensure reliability.
The rug is made from wool yarn (60%) and linen (40%). Custom sizes are available, please contact Hive for assistance ordering sizes not shown online. Depending on the natural materials used and the varied hand-crafted processes in production, dimensions of the rug may vary by up to 2%. Pile height is approximately 0.4" - 0.6".
