skagerak lilium bench
Design Bjarke Ingels Group
FSC™ certified teak, stainless steel
Skagerak by Fritz Hansen
Inspired by the shape of a lily pad, Lilium is an outdoor furniture series that is light and sturdy at the same time. Light, with its slender X-shaped frame in stainless steel, sturdy, with its wooden planks that greet you with a contemporary and welcoming gesture. Lilium bench is not just a versatile bench but also doubles as a lounge table. Based on the same design premises as the rest of the series, Lilium bench's top in teak planks placed lengthwise for a slender expression, just like the dining table.
BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) was established by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, who is an unconventional architect and communicator, who twists the sometimes rigid dogmas of modernism, adding creative thinking, fertile imagination and a pragmatic approach. BIG's architecture emerges out of a careful analysis of how contemporary life constantly evolves and changes due to the influence of multicultural exchange, global economical flows, and communication technologies. BIG's design vision carries through from the big picture to the small details. By combining strong conceptual narratives with a keen eye for detail, fit and finish, the studio ensures that products can live in any interior environment and improve the way we live, work and play.
Teak is a heavy, hard and sturdy type of wood. The high content of natural oils makes it highly resistant, perfect for functional everyday items in your home such as household articles and furniture. Skagerak FSC™-certified Teak comes from Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica and Indonesia. As the wood is untreated the surface will patina and change color over time into a beautiful silvery grey. To maintain untreated wood, it is a good idea to use sandpaper (grit 120-150) once or twice a year.
