Design Patricia Urquiola
100% New wool
Made by GAN
As if it were fabric under a microscope, or a colorful and impossible wooden floor, the design of the Mirage rugs transmits a powerful optical effect, an illusion -as its name suggests. The three Mirage rugs feature irregular edges designed by Patricia Urquiola using a rotating combination of three stripes with gradient colors.
The hand-knotted technique is a manual rug-making method that allows for extremely detailed designs, precisely because rugs are made knot by knot. It is a very laborious technique and, consequently, it offers great flexibility. Bearing this peculiarity in mind, we at GAN create hand-knotted designs with both uniform patterns as well as with an apparent randomness.
The alternation of color and the different orientation of the gradients generates an attractive visual game that hides a chevron-style striped pattern, only perceived from certain perspectives. The collection may even be used as a tapestry on a wall. It is a fully hand-knotted piece and it is made 100% with New Zealand wool.
6'7" w | 10'2" L | .6" h | 45.1 lbs.
