by Ozdemir & Caglar, from De La Espada
suite king size bed 265
Design Seyhan Özdemir & Sefer Çaglar
Oak, Ash or Walnut, upholstery
Made in Portugal by De La Espada
Initially designed for Autoban's Witt Istanbul Suites project, Suite Bed features a dramatic wrap-around timber headboard, the inner face softened by upholstery. This bed was named 'Best Bed' at the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2012. Designed by Autoban and manufactured by De La Espada for the Autoban brand.
De La Espada is a groundbreaking design management firm and leading modern woodworker with a dedicated factory in Portugal. Highly skilled craftspeople combine noble materials, traditional joinery, handcraft and advanced technology to realize each design to the highest standard. De La Espada puts the author at the forefront and values the modern artisan. They partner with designers who art direct, curate and design their own product lines, and support them through manufacture and distribution.
In 2003, Seyhan and Sefer founded Autoban, an interior design and product studio that has been gaining widespread recognition and receiving design awards around the world. Hailing from Istanbul, Autoban has a wealth of culture from which to draw a unique aesthetic language. They use raw materials to create sleek, modern designs with varied cultural and historic elements with a splash of whimsy. Founders Seyhan Özdemir and Sefer Çaglar find their core inspiration in nature, daily rituals, childhood memories and the city in which they live.
Available in American black walnut, American white oak, or European Ash in a range of finishes, and a range of fabric and leather options. Bed base consists of several individual timber slats, set approximately 5cm (2") apart. Please note that when using leather to upholster the expansive surface of the headboard, De la Espada craftspeople will use their discretion to ensure the natural variations in the hide's color and grain are most elegantly displayed. This may mean adding stitch lines to the headboard. Mattress & bedding not included.

Ozdemir & Caglar
Seyhan Özdemir (b. 1975) and Sefer Cağlar (b. 1973) met at the Fine Arts Faculty of Mimar Sinan University, where Seyhan was studying Architecture and Sefer, Interior Design. They both graduated in 1998 and founded Autoban in 2003 after gaining experience in the field to combine their fields of architecture, interior design, and product development under one name. The duo began developing product designs and launched their first collection in Paris in 2004. Two years later they opened the Autoban Gallery to showcase the best of these designs. The next year, they began their collaboration with De La Espada to produce their products, while maintaining creative control.
