le corbusier lc2 ottoman

Design Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, 1928
Upholstered cushions padded with dacron, metal frame
Made in Italy by Cassina

The "Cassina | Maestri" (Cassina Masters) collection includes some of the most important furniture created by leading figures in the Modern Movement, pieces which have since become landmarks in the evolution of contemporary design.

The amassment fosters the emergence of the absolute values of design, which transcend space and time, the content of which has never been explored, thus constituting a fundamental contribution to current design research. These pieces fit into contemporary furnishing schemes with the utmost naturalness, blending in as effortlessly as furniture designed this year.

LC2 is a timeless collection, which has made design history. Designed in 1928 and exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 1929, it is the archetypal armchair in the new and modern conception of furnishings understood as "domestic equipment", re-issued by Cassina and produced exclusively since 1965. The separation of the metal frame and the cushions expresses a rationalist approach to industrial production.

Early in his career, Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, also known as Le Corbusier, was met with some resistance to his work. Owing to its alleged "revolutionary" nature and the radical look it acquired from its "purist" form. In time, however, it won the recognition it deserved and is still widely admired.

All the models in the Cassina Masters collection, by merit of their artistic content and particular creative character, are protected by copyright. The exclusive reproduction rights have been acquired by Cassina.

The LC2, petit confort collection consists of an armchair, two-seat and three-seat sofa and is included in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art. The collection features a polished chrome or painted steel frame in the LC color palette. The cushions for the ottoman are offered with a dacron fill and upholstered in fabric or leather with matching piping.
