Solid chestnut or walnut, copper
Made in Portugal by De La Espada

Joining the family of Seating for Eating, is the Together table, available as a fixed or extendable table. The table sits comfortably with Seating for Eating or independently holds its own. Rounded ends act as drop leaves on the extending version, creating a rectangular table when locked underneath. The rounded ends invite people to move up and get snug. A table to eat, drink, work or play. Furniture that you can sit at together, but that still leaves room for the individual. Designed by Studioilse and manufactured by De La Espada for the Studioilse brand.

Chestnut ranges in color from a light honey to a deep golden brown. The grain is dark and linear when it is finished naturally. Painted chestnut is painted pure white, while the dark and linear grains remain visible. Chestnut, a prized hardwood, is decay-resistant and extremely stable making it an excellent choice for furniture. The chestnut for this piece is carefully selected with knots adding character to every piece.

The timber is sustainably harvested in Europe. The trees on the farms are methodically cared for, ensuring exceptionally strong planks of the highest quality. Mortise and tenon joints, dovetailing and lap joints combined with slow-drying wood glue that seeps deep into the fibres of the solid wood create strong, unbreakable bonds adding long life to every piece of furniture.

Ilse Crawford heads the design company Studioilse alongside her brand consultancy. They have a broad and impressive portfolio which includes a slew of award winning projects.

Together extending table is offered in solid European chestnut finished with a Danish oil or white oil or painted pure white (RAL 9010 - eggshell finish) or black/brown (RAL 8022 - eggshell finish). Also available in solid walnut finished with a Danish oil. Available in various size options and accented with copper feet and brushed copper locking mechanism.

The extension bars are centrally located on the hinged ends of the table. To extend, unlock the metal latch by sliding it to the side. Once released, fold the leaf upward, then pull the extension bar fully until it hits the stopper. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the limitations of solid European Chestnut and the length of the planks available, the wood grain on the extension leaves does not match that of the table. This limitation does not apply to the American black walnut timber.

De La Espada was founded by Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada in 1993. Hailing from Porto and Madrid respectively and educated in London, the founders opened the first De La Espada store in London in 1996, when there was comparatively little quality contemporary furniture in the city. De La Espada's dedicated factory in Portugal specializes in hand crafted traditional construction methods to create modern furniture with timeless appeal and the warmth of solid wood. The De La Espada aesthetic evolved from influences including the Arts and Crafts movement, architects such as Tadao Ando, John Pawson and Alvaro Siza, as well as Scandinavian design from the 1950’s.
