spoon table

spoon table

Design Antonio Citterio & Toan Nguyen, 2008
Polypropylene, honeycomb aluminum, laminate
Made in Italy by Kartell

Spoon table is an office folding table characterized by its very light weight and practicality. The structural top is made of honeycomb aluminum and is only 15mm thick. It has a white laminate finish with a colored edge surfaced with methacrylate giving depth to its transparency. The thermoplastic legs are a guarantee of sturdiness and aesthetic appeal. The knee closing mechanism was designed to simplify the folding of the top and makes the Spoon table perfect for living in small spaces and for easy carrying. The leg-locking system requires no tools and works using only a slider eyelet.

Antonio Citterio has worked with various manufacturers in the field of industrial design since 1972. His designs have won many awards, which have included items in the museum of modern art's permanent collection.

The Spoon table is offered in three top sizes with legs and matching edges in three colors.

Antonio Citterio

Italian designer Antonio Citterio (b. 1950) still lives and works in Milan since graduating in architecture from the Politcenico di Milano. He has made designs for many manufacturers, including : Ansorg, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Hackman, Iittala, Hansgrohe, Inda, Pozzi e Ginori, Kartell, Arclinea and Vitra. He operates his entirely own brand known for skilled craftsmanship in wood processing, Maxalto, under B&B Italia. The first Maxalto store opened in Paris, followed by Chicago and Miami. The company received new attention after appearing in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Citterio’s other work includes construction in Italy and abroad, as well as leading conferences and lectures.
Kartell's image and its 59 years of history are described through the company's products. The development, the corporate strategies, the attention the company has paid to technology, the project and the design can be appreciated by observing the products Kartell has produced. Kartell's products express the language and the atmosphere of the period in which they were created, but at the same time, they are "contemporary articles," they incorporate many other values and messages and this is why they have become an integral part of our domestic design world.
