bocci 14.36 thirty six pendant chandelier
Design Omer Arbel, 2005
Cast glass, blown borosilicate glass, braided metal cable
Made in Vancouver BC by Bocci
14.36 is a random configuration of thirty six 14 pendants hung from either a rectangular, square or round canopy. The drop lengths of the pendants are randomized between a clients specified range of heights to variously cluster and scatter. The result is an ambient installation or field of light. 14 is an articulated, seamed cast glass sphere with a frosted cylindrical void that houses either a low-voltage xenon or LED lamp. Individual pendants are visually quite subtle, but gain an atmospheric quality when multiplied and clustered in larger groups. 14 allows for a variety of compositional possibilities, ranging from ambient to punctuated dense clusters in specific high profile locations.
In 2005, Bocci was founded in a red barn surrounded by hay fields, on the periphery of Vancouver, Canada. The company launched with one product, 14, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller. Today, Bocci has a growing portfolio of contemporary design ranging from light installations through to furniture and electrical sockets. All Bocci designs are developed, engineered, and fabricated in-house through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality, and scale.
14.36 thirty six pendant fixture can be specified with shortest & longest pendant lengths with the drop lengths of the other pendants randomized and fabricated by Bocci to variously cluster and scatter (custom lengths & configurations are also available, please call to specify). Additional cable lengths are available and can be customized up to a maximum of 100' feet. Specified shortest and longest lengths are from the underside of the canopy to the bottom of the pendant. Please note: there may be a variance of +/- 2" on specified shortest and longest lengths.
Headphone jack hardware (14.11 to 14.36 & custom) allows the installer to attach the canopy to the ceiling before "plugging in" the individual pendants one by one. Bocci recommends mounting transformers remotely in a close, accessible and hidden location for ease of long term maintenance. 14.36 Includes your choice of a round, square or rectangular white powder-coated canopy. Installation to be done by certified electrician to ensure code compliance. The LED version is only dimmable with quantities of 3 or more fixtures on the same driver, requires a ELV compatible dimmer. Please call the hive showroom with any questions: 1-866-663-4483.
