Design Verner Panton, 1969
Transparent acrylic, aluminum reflectors, fabric cord
Made in Denmark by VerPan ApS.

"Color planning is crucial in the design of an environment. It is not enough to say that red is red and blue is blue. I work generally parallel with the colors if tones follow each other in the spectrum. Then I can control the room's cold and warm character and create a certain mood." -Verner Panton

The controlled, the transparent & colored light. The VP Globe pendant is an unusually light globe. It is available from all sides. An airy bubble which will give the light optimum working conditions and let it show its best advantage in space. The light discs above and below the shielded bulb allows variation and adaptation of the light to fit the space. And they show Verner Panton's great feeling for the technical aspects, materials and opportunities.

As one of the most influential and remarkable designers of the era, Verner Panton (1926-1998) has created objects, spaces and art. He was a master of the fluid, futuristic style of 1960s design which introduced the Pop aesthetic to furniture and interiors. His original, space age designs have won numerous awards and been exhibited in museums and private collections around the world. His ideologies and design concepts are apparent and have had great influence on 21st century design.

The VP Globe suspension lamp features a transparent acrylic globe with five reflectors inside suspended by three steel chains. The reflectors are made of hollowed-out aluminum with a lacquered finish (white, blue and orange). Includes a chromed metal ceiling canopy. Offered in your choice of two sizes. Verner Panton

Verner Panton (1926 – 1998) of Denmark created innovative, futuristic designs in vibrant colors with a variety of materials, especially plastic. Though his style was very "1960s," he regained popularity at the end of the 20th century. As of 2004, his most of his well-known furniture models are still in production. Already an experienced artist, Panton studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, graduating in 1951. During the first two years of his career, 1950–1952, he worked at the architectural practice of Arne Jacobsen, another Danish architect and furniture designer. Panton started his own design and architectural office and became well known for his innovative architectural proposals, including a collapsible house (1955), the Cardboard House and the Plastic House (1960). In the mid-1950's, Panton converted a Volkswagen bus into a mobile studio and travelled across Europe. He returned to Denmark in 1958 full of unconventional ideas, one of which evolved into the iconic Heart Cone Chair. In 1960 Panton was the designer of the very first single-form injection-molded plastic chair. The Stacking chair or S chair, became his most famous design and was mass-produced.
One of the true rebels and pioneers in the world of lighting and furniture design, Verner Panton is an icon. True to his vision, his creative language shocked surroundings when he started designing and continues to leave people amazed today. Adding a touch of Panton instantly transforms a room. For many years Verpan has produced his famous lamps, carefully merging quality and originality.
