lowland 3 seater sofa
by Patricia Urquiola, from Moroso
lowland 3 seater sofa
Design Patricia Urquiola, 2000
Hardwood frame, polyurethane foam, stainless steel feet
Made in Italy by Moroso
Patricia Urquiol's Lowland collection may be defined as a geoform, it recalls the large stepping stones of a river joint together by an imaginative path that takes you safely to the other side. A series of upholstered objects meant for interiors featuring a very strong influence of design. A product for contemporary interiors where the traditional concepts of constituting elements have been willingly ignored. The collection proposes simple and essential elements such as the seat, back and arm rests; the seats are elementary shapes; the back completes or rejoins the elements and the arm rests are strong and impressive elements that are placed on the floor and bend upwards towards the seat.
Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic Universities where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her supervisor of whom she was assistant at the Milan Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992. She has worked with many great talents and a plethora of companies worldwide. This brilliant Spanish architect is a phenomenon not to be lost sight of.
Starting with the Lowland collection and maintaining the same genetic code of movement and possible verticality, though introducing a morphological variant, Patricia Urquiola has designed an element for relaxation. We offer the Lowland collection with a vast array of sizes and options. Cushions shown in pictures are not included. Optional cushions are available, please call for details.
3-seat sofa: 96" L | 37.8" d | 28.7" h | seat: 16.2" h | 68.5" L | arms: 20" h | legs: 4" h

Patricia Urquiola
Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Madrid, where she graduated in 1989 having completed a thesis with Achille Castiglioni. From 1990 to 1992, she was assistant lecturer on his courses. Between 1990 and 1996, she worked with Vico Magistretti for the new product development office of De Padova and signed the products: “Flower,” “Loom sofa,” “Chaise,” and “Chaise Longue.”
Agostino Moroso, with his wife, Diana, founded the Moroso company in 1952 with an artisanal approach to making sofas, armchairs and furnishing accessories. Their iconic designs have propelled them within the upholstered furniture market, with help from a long list of well known designers: Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola, Ross Lovegrove, Konstantin Grcic, Alfredo Haberli, Toshiyuki Kita, Marcel Wanders and others. Each piece maintains a noticeable Moroso style while representing other cultures as well. Its international outlook has landed Moroso into the MoMA in New York, Le Palais de Tokyo, the Grand Palais in Paris.
