catifa 46 four leg wood armchair
Design Lievore Altherr Molina, 2004
Steel, powder-coat, wood veneer
Made in Italy by Arper
Catifa 46 is the little sister of Catifa 53. Same sleek profile with a crisp, casual efficiency that is designed for contract use and spaces that require a slightly smaller scale. Extremely flexible, Catifa 46 extends the palette of finishes, bases and accessories for customization to accommodate an almost limitless array of contract applications without altering its essential character.
Made for both residential and contract use, indoors and out, the Catifa 46 shell and base are fabricated in a diverse range of materials, colors and finishes. The shell is constructed in double- curved plywood, mono- or bi-color polypropylene (an exclusive process pioneered by Arper), covered in leather or fabric or finished with upholstered pads. The base comes in chrome-finished steel, satin-finished stainless steel, aluminum or powder-coated aluminum and is available in the following base configurations: sled, four-legs in tube, aluminum trestle and five-ways. The sled and four-leg bases are stackable to allow for large-scale use and storage. A table accessory is available for campus or auditorium use (please call for details). Catifa 46 is also available as a stool.

Altherr & Molina Lievore
Lievore, Altherr, & Molina was created in 1991 by the merging of its three experienced designer partners: Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr, and Manel Molina. This prolific design group has designed products for Arper and is also known for interior design, and packaging. Beyond their own design, the studio deals in the consulting and art direction of various companies, always offering customized solutions. They extend this knowledge into a dedicated teaching practice too, offering seminars and training to new professionals through universities.
Arper's origins are of a leather workshop founded by Luigi Feltrin, the company President. His passion, supported by innovations from his sons Mauro and Claudio, give Arper their distinct place in the design world. The company's scale grew in the late 1990's when they began using new materials and technologies, as well as due to a collaboration with the firm Lievore Altherr Molina. Among the classics that came from this collaboration is the Catifa chairs, which are available in 5 different versions and have sold over a million units since 2001. Today, Arper's policy is focused on environmental quality and sustainability, while using low-emitting recyclables.
