panchina small bench
by Antonio Citterio, from Vitra.
panchina small bench
Design Antonio Citterio, 2011
Polyurethane, plywood, die-cast aluminum, polyester
Made in Germany by Vitra
"Developing a new chair for Vitra in the wake of a masterpiece like the Eames Lounge Chair was a unique challenge." -Antonio Citterio
Grand Repos and Repos stand in the tradition of the classic lounge chair, but have developed this concept further to reach a new level. With their generous padding, inviting armrests, high back and continuously adjustable sitting positions, these chairs fulfill almost all demands with respect to comfortable, relaxing seating.
The Italian designer and architect Antonio Citterio knows how to combine timeless elegance with unsurpassed comfort. He has worked with Vitra for around 25 years creating a variety of pioneering designs. After many years of experience in creating dynamic and healthy seating, he has now applied his expertise to the private living area, with the Repos collection as his premiere pieces.
The upholstered Panchina bench can be used as a simple, universal seating possibility or as a matching ottoman to Repos and Grand Repos. Panchina is available in a variety of leathers and fabrics, with decorative seams that lend the chair a distinctly contemporary, almost technical flair. The die-cast aluminum legs include hard plastic glides and can be specified in your choice of polished or colored lacquer versions.
panchina: 29.5" or 39.25" w | 13" d | 15.75" h

Antonio Citterio
Italian designer Antonio Citterio (b. 1950) still lives and works in Milan since graduating in architecture from the Politcenico di Milano. He has made designs for many manufacturers, including : Ansorg, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Hackman, Iittala, Hansgrohe, Inda, Pozzi e Ginori, Kartell, Arclinea and Vitra. He operates his entirely own brand known for skilled craftsmanship in wood processing, Maxalto, under B&B Italia. The first Maxalto store opened in Paris, followed by Chicago and Miami. The company received new attention after appearing in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Citterio’s other work includes construction in Italy and abroad, as well as leading conferences and lectures.
Vitra is a Swiss company dedicated to improving the quality of spaces through the power of design. Product longevity is central to the company goal of sustainable development. Short lived styling is avoided in favor of classical pieces of furniture that can be used for decades, have several owners and end up as part of a collection.
