bubble club sofa
by Philippe Starck, from Kartell
bubble club sofa
Design Philippe Starck
Smooth batch-dyed polyethylene
Made in Italy by Kartell
Bubble Club, made of mass-colored polyethylene, is the first interpreter of a new concept of furnishing accessory: the industrial lounge chair, made entirely of plastic. Technology and research allow to be mass-produced what has always been made by hand.
Bubble Club is a large two-seater couch, characterised by the soft line of the arms, in contrast with the more essential and rational line of the back. Together with the lounge and the new side table, produced with the same finishings and colors, Bubble Club is today a true family, an Industrial living-room.
Thanks to their exceptional resistance to atmospheric agents, all the members of Bubble Club family live perfectly outside. Terraces, gardens and swimming pools will have new and exceptional protagonists. Their fashionable design and colors allow them to also be inserted in lofts and open spaces. The Bubble Club Family is also perfect for furnishing communal spaces, waiting rooms and public places, indoors or outdoors.
77" w | 30.3" d | 31.5" h | seat: 17.75" h | arms: 27.25" h

Philippe Starck
Paris-born Philippe Patrick Starck (b. 1949) has a wide range of design, but is very well known for his consumer goods and interiors. He was educated in Paris at the École Camondo and founded his first design firm, which specialized in inflatable objects, in 1968. The next year, he became art director of his firm along with Pierre Cardin. He has worked both independently as an interior designer and as a product designer since 1975. After designing the private apartment interiors for French President François Mitterrand in 1982, his career began to climb significantly. In 1986 he joined Domus Academy Department of Design as an associate lecturer. Two of Starck's famous designs include stylized toothbrushes (1989) and a sleek juicer dubbed the Juicy Salif created for Alessi in 1990. The Juicy Salif has become an affordable and popular cult item.
The Kartell image and history are best described through the company's products. The development, corporate strategies, attention paid to technology and design can be appreciated by observing the products Kartell has produced. Kartell products express the language and the atmosphere of the period in which they were created and at the same time they are "contemporary articles". They incorporate many values and messages and this is why they have become an integral part of our design world.
