Clay Low Table

from Moroso

clay low table

Design Zanellato/Bortotto, 2025
Handcrafted ceramic tile, oak or canalleto walnut veneer
Made in Italy by Moroso

Glazed ceramic becomes the defining surface, transforming the tabletop into a narrative of fire, color and craftsmanship. In Clay, structure and surface exist in balance: the formal rigor of the side table meets the tactile richness of ceramic, creating an object that combines solidity with aesthetic sensitivity. A project that restores material to a central role, reinterpreting tradition through a contemporary lens.

The experimentation that began with the Mangiafuoco collection continues with the Clay family, the outcome of research on ceramics allied to a desire to recreate an ancient association through revival of rare manufacturing techniques. The Clay side tables stem from the encounter between the chromatic and material research of Zanellato/Bortotto and the ceramic experimentation of Botteganove, a renowned workshop rooted in the tradition of Nove.

Like enamel, clay is an ancient material strongly associated with fire, which fixes its color and final form. A handcrafted ceramic panel serving as the backrest or the table tops, turning the pieces into genuine functional sculptures. Each piece is handcrafted in the historic ceramics district of Nove (Vicenza), using bi- and three-dimensional slabs enriched with precious glazes and lusters, enhancing the uniqueness of every creation

The collection unfolds in four variants (with one, two, three or four ceramic tiles) generating different proportions and configurations while maintaining a coherent and recognizable identity. Each tile, handcrafted and kiln-fired, reveals unique nuances and subtle variations, the expression of a process in which matter is shaped and transformed at high temperatures.
