moss tufted rug
Design Gunilla Legerhem Ullberg
Wool, linen
Made in Sweden by Kasthall
Moss is an iconic hand-tufted rug that mixes long linen threads with short, coarse wool yarn. The result is a warm and beautifully mottled rug with a distinctive, unique character. Its original design was conceived by Kasthall's legendary lead designer Gunnila Lagerhem Ullberg. Still, new versions of the iconic rug have since been added, taking its original design into contemporary homes and public spaces.
Known as the "Queen of Rugs," Gunilla was the Lead Designer at Kasthall for 28 years between 1987 and 2015. She designed most of Kasthall's classic collections, such as Moss, Fogg, Häggå, and Tekla. She received numerous prestigious design accolades for her work, among them "Designer of the Year" by Elle Decoration in 2012. In December 2015, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, Gunilla passed away. A true legend in the industry, her legacy and timeless designs will remain significant for generations to come.
Sustainability is rooted in Kasthall's history from the beginning and continues today in their work and ambition to contribute to a sustainable future. They use a circular approach to design and a fully-traceable supply chain to reduce the impact on people and planet. It is part of their commitment to local Swedish production and a made-to-order system that creates less waste. Kasthall uses third-party environmental declarations and assessment to ensure reliability.
The rug is made from wool (70%), linen (30%). Custom sizes are available, please contact Hive for assistance ordering sizes not shown online. Depending on the natural materials used and the varied hand-crafted processes in production, dimensions of the rug may vary by up to 2%. Pile height is approximately 1.5".
