le klint model 157 pendant
Design Andreas Hansen, 1965
Hand-folded PVC shade
Made in Denmark by Le Klint
This lamp was named 'Konval' (Lily of the Valley). Like the flower, it is finely faceted and closed in shape, this avoids glare and expands its range of use. The lamp was designed by Andreas Hansen in 1965. Like many other lamps from this period, it received a nickname based on its design.
Andreas Hansen trained at the Kunsthåndværkerskolen (the School of Arts and Crafts) and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' School of Furniture Design. He has since worked in furniture and industrial design. He has had his own design studio since 1963, designing furniture, lamps and home furnishings, mainly for businesses based in Denmark. At the beginning of his career, Andreas designed a series of new and inventive lampshades for Le Klint.
They featured sharp zigzag pleating that set them apart from the company's earlier models. Like the remainder of the range, Andreas Hansen's lamps are pleated by hand even though they are not the classic Le Klint pleats.
