Faubourg Rug
by Eileen Gray from Classicon
faubourg rug
Design Eileen Gray, 1920-1935
100% hand-spun New Zealand virgin wool
Made by Classicon
Based on a gouache by Eileen Gray from the 1920s, Faubourg is the epitome of minimalism: set against a square, natural white background, three simple black lines create an exciting dynamic. Two curved lines provide a reference to Eileen Gray's furniture designs, for example the iconic Adjustable Table E1027, in which circles and curves are recurring motifs. An angled line running along one edge of the rug forms an effective contrast to the circular motif. The name of the Faubourg Rug was inspired by the location of Gray's studio on Rue de Faubourg St. Honoré in Paris.
Eileen Gray not only created some of the most important 20th century furniture classics but also had her own studio where rugs were produced according to her designs. Some of her most beautiful patterns are now again available: masterpieces of abstract textile art of 100% pure new wool, natural vegetable dye, hand-woven and processed to the highest quality with a density of 80 knots per square inch.
Made of hand-spun New Zealand virgin wool. Environmentally friendly color pigments, tested according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. Low-maintenance, suitable for vacuum cleaners. Please note, +/- 5cm dimensional tolerances are possible. Custom sizes are also available, please contact Hive for assistance ordering.

Eileen Gray
Eileen Gray was one of the pioneers who created what we now call modern design. The lone woman amongst her peers, her name is spoken in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, and Marcel Breuer.
At ClassiCon you will find innovative furniture that has the courage to depart from familiar ground. Some pieces carry big names and can look back on a proud design history while others are at the beginning of writing their own stories.
