catifa up chair with trestle base
by Altherr & Molina Lievore, from Arper - sale
catifa up chair with trestle base
Design Lievore Altherr Molina, 2017
Aluminum, powder-coat, polypropylene, upholstery
Made in Italy by Arper
As much a part of Arper's identity as it is a testament to enduring design, Catifa 53 is the piece that started it all. Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, Catifa 53's graceful curves and sleek, sensuous silhouette are achieved through an economy of materials - and an exclusive manufacturing process pioneered by Arper to synthesize concept, form, and production.
Catifa's iconic shape is ubiquitous in use. Comfortable in both residential and contract environments, the collection has been available in an array of colors, materials and constructions. Designed in 2017, Catifa Up offers a higher backrest than Catifa 53, with the addition of optional armrests in a new design and plush padding to lend stately comfort and support to boardrooms, workplaces, home offices, and conference rooms. A new range of upholstery options delivers visual intrigue to an indelible design. With Catifa Up, elegance and comfort team up to get the job done.
Features a polished or powder-coated aluminum trestle base. The shell is upholstered in fabric, leather or faux leather. Optional aluminum armrests are offered in the same finishes as the base.
28.75" d | 28.75" w | 33.5" h | seat: 17.7"

Altherr & Molina Lievore
Lievore, Altherr, & Molina was created in 1991 by the merging of its three experienced designer partners: Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr, and Manel Molina. This prolific design group has designed products for Arper and is also known for interior design, and packaging. Beyond their own design, the studio deals in the consulting and art direction of various companies, always offering customized solutions. They extend this knowledge into a dedicated teaching practice too, offering seminars and training to new professionals through universities.
Arper's origins are of a leather workshop founded by Luigi Feltrin, the company President. His passion, supported by innovations from his sons Mauro and Claudio, give Arper their distinct place in the design world. The company's scale grew in the late 1990's when they began using new materials and technologies, as well as due to a collaboration with the firm Lievore Altherr Molina. Among the classics that came from this collaboration is the Catifa chairs, which are available in 5 different versions and have sold over a million units since 2001. Today, Arper's policy is focused on environmental quality and sustainability, while using low-emitting recyclables.
