bm4570 outdoor dining chair
by Borge Mogensen, from Carl Hansen & Son
bm4570 outdoor dining chair
Design Borge Mogensen, 1968
Solid untreated teak wood, stainless steel fittings
Made by Carl Hansen & son
In the late 1960s, Danish furniture designer Børge Mogensen conceived his Deck Chair Series of outdoor furniture, which included the BM4570 Dining chair. The chair's simple, slatted lines and solid teak construction provide classic durable functionality in a range of outdoor spaces.
Reissued by Carl Hansen & Søn, the purposeful design helps to bring people and nature together in thoughtful and inspiring ways. The straightforward silhouette in solid, untreated and FSC-certified teak features carefully considered details that include gently rounded ends and identically spaced rivets. Originally conceived for Mogensen's private balcony, the chair folds flat when not in use and can be neatly hung on the series' corresponding wall mount as a decorative, architectural object in its own right.
The BM4570 dining chair features untreated FSC-certified teak. It is fitted with a suspended seat in weather resistant Sunbrella fabric, in Heritage papyrus 18006 color.. The durable design withstands wear and weather conditions to age gracefully over time, acquiring an elegant silver-grey hue.
Wall mount short (BM5270S) can hold:
1 x BM5568 Deck Chair or 1 x BM5868 Side Table or 1 x BM5768 Footstool or 2 x BM3670 Dining Chairs.
Wall mount long (BM5270L) can hold:
2 x BM5568 Deck Chairs or 2 x BM5868 Side Tables or 2 x BM5768 Footstools or 4 x BM3670 Dining Chairs or 1 x BM1069 Dining Table.
*The wall mount comes with screws and plugs for brick wall only.

Borge Mogensen
Borge Mogensen (1914-1972) was a pioneer that helped to create the culture of Danish Modern Design. He was Fredericia's founding designer from 1955 until his death in 1972. His life-long ambition was to create durable and useful furniture that would enrich peoples everyday lives. He believed that furniture should create a sense of tranquillity and have a modest appearance that encourages people to live their lives unpretentiously.
Carl Hansen invited Hans Wegner to create designs in 1949 and launched a mutually beneficial relationship bringing success to the company and exposure to Hans Wegner. Wegner was still relatively unknown, but soon gained wide acclaim that continues to today as a Master of Danish Modern Design.
