bm5868 outdoor side table
by Borge Mogensen, from Carl Hansen & Son - sale
bm5868 outdoor side table
Design Borge Mogensen, 1968
Solid untreated teak wood, stainless steel fittings
Made by Carl Hansen & son
Danish furniture designer Borge Mogensen designed the Deck Chair Series in the late 1960s as a response to his personal need for functional and comfortable outdoor furniture that occupied the minimum of space.
Like all of Borge Mogensen's furniture designs, the Deck Chair Series combines functional strength with natural materials and a timeless aesthetic. Carefully crafted details nod to the designer's background as a cabinetmaker and draw clear stylistic references to the American Shakers and 19th Century English furniture design.
Practical and flexible and with carefully crafted details, the BM5868 Side Table in untreated, FSC-certified teak profiles a simple design based on wooden slats. The sturdy, yet lightweight frame makes it easy to move around, and the foldable design requires the minimum of storage space - making it ideal for spontaneous gatherings when the sun comes out.
As wood is a natural product, variations in color and pigmentation will occur. Wooden furniture will also change appearance over time as it is affected by the environment in which it is placed.
Wall mount short (BM5270S) can hold:
1 x BM5568 Deck Chair or 1 x BM5868 Side Table or 1 x BM5768 Footstool or 2 x BM3670 Dining Chairs.
Wall mount long (BM5270L) can hold:
2 x BM5568 Deck Chairs or 2 x BM5868 Side Tables or 2 x BM5768 Footstools or 4 x BM3670 Dining Chairs or 1 x BM1069 Dining Table.
*The wall mount comes with screws and plugs for brick wall only.

Borge Mogensen
Borge Mogensen (1914-1972) was a pioneer that helped to create the culture of Danish Modern Design. He was Fredericia's founding designer from 1955 until his death in 1972. His life-long ambition was to create durable and useful furniture that would enrich peoples everyday lives. He believed that furniture should create a sense of tranquillity and have a modest appearance that encourages people to live their lives unpretentiously.
Carl Hansen invited Hans Wegner to create designs in 1949 and launched a mutually beneficial relationship bringing success to the company and exposure to Hans Wegner. Wegner was still relatively unknown, but soon gained wide acclaim that continues to today as a Master of Danish Modern Design.
