Looking at their outdoor assortment, Blu Dot had a good mix of materials and textures, but none that involved a softer, more tactile element like rope. They began by sketching continuous lines which would become the frame and, as it turns out, the perfect armature for a woven back. They made a prototype and used yards of colored shoelaces to experiment with different weaving patterns. Then they landed on a simple pattern that both mimics and complements the powder-coated steel frame, keeping it feeling minimal, organic and endlessly comfortable.
The Mate Outdoor dining chair features a tubular aluminum frame that is wrapped up in all-weather woven rope to form a seat back that is textured, tender and tough. Dine, sip or caffeinate al fresco without disaster. Seat cushion is upholstered in UV and mildew resistant Sunbrella fabric. Also available in Lounge Chair and Ottoman.
