e004 embrace chair
Design Eoos, 2019
Solid wood, foam, upholstery
Made in Denmark by Carl Hansen & Son
The Embrace Chair is a 2019 addition to the Embrace Series by Austrian design trio EOOS. Visually light in its expression, the chair has no armrests and will take up less space, fitting with any table. The design allows for great freedom of movement - a quality that enables users to communicate and interact freely. The upholstery is folded in two dimensions and the relaxed air of the upholstery contrasts the perfectly shaped wooden frame. It is a testimony to the unity between the craftsmanship and heritage of Carl Hansen & son and the innovative design approach of EOOS.
Austrian design collaborative, EOOS, were established in Vienna in 1995 by Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann, and Harald Grundl. The trio study historical roots in a contemporary context and use a unique process called Poetical Analysis to create works. Their method focuses on myths, rituals and intuitive expressions, to create connections that extend beyond initial perceptions. EOOS view design as a poetic discipline, and believe that end results should be able to accommodate changing needs and desires.
The Embrace chair is offered in a variety of wood and upholstery options. The edging strip is available in five difference colors. Please note: oak has a clearly visible wood structure when painted.
32.5" h | 24" d | 22" w | seat: 18.3" h
