visu stool
from Muuto
visu stool
Design Mika Tolvanen, 2012
Lacquered ash or oak veneer, water-based lacquer, form-pressed wood veneer base, steel
Made by Muuto
"The task was to create a personal interpretation of the ever relevant plywood chair. I wanted my chair to have an unobtrusive and timeless nature that is familiar but never boring and without sacrificing function or ergonomics." - Mika Tolvanen
The Visu family of chairs brings a new perspective to the iconic wooden chair through its shape in form-pressed wood veneer, giving the design an at once modern and comfortably functional character. Spanning across chairs, bar stools and lounge chairs, the Visu family comes in a variety of bases, sizes and colors with many possibilities for customization, allowing for the design to fit within any home or professional project.
Studio Tolvanen is the product design studio of Mika & Julie Tolvanen. Mika is a Finnish designer who started his own practice after graduating from Royal College of Art in 2001 and Julie is an American designer who spent 10 years as a woodworker before moving to Finland in 2009 to get a master's degree in furniture design. Studio Tolvanen was founded in 2015, designing products for residential and contract use from their studio and workshop on the island of Lauttasaari outside of Helsinki.
With its small curved back and long elegant legs, the Visu Stool is a perfect accompaniment for any kitchen counter or restaurant bar. Made from form pressed wood with a steel foot rest, the gentle silhouette of the stool contrasts with the texture of the wood for a toned-down Scandinavian aesthetic. Includes plastic glides.
bar height: 16.75" w | 16.75" d | 34.75" h | seat: 29.5" h
counter height: 16.75" w | 16.75" d | 31" h | seat: 25.5" h
