magis raviolo chair

Design Ron Arad, 2011
Rotational-molded polyethylene
Made in Italy by Magis

The search for shapes that are both sculptural and functional for furniture, in products destined for large-scale production, is a constant in Ron Arad's design philosophy. Thanks to Magis' leading-edge technology, this idea has taken on a range of different, original and unmistakable forms, including Raviolo armchair, created from a single strip of rotational molded polyethylene. Raviolo is available in a large range of colors and therefore it looks equally at ease in any environment, domestic and contract, indoor and outdoor.

Hailed as one of the foremost designers of the 20th Century, Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv and studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Art before moving to London and the Architectural Association where he studied under Peter Cook, founder of Archigram. Ron Arad has successfully established a unique design style using unorthodox combinations of materials and concepts.

Ron Arad

In 1981 Ron scoured a scrapyard and combined a car seat with structural tubing to create the postmodern Rover Chair, whose popularity significantly launched his career. Ron Arad’s unique design style would continue to use unorthodox combinations of materials and concepts.
Magis believes a design must not only be good, it should also satisfy a criteria of aesthetic functionalism. Magis combines quality production with a design sensibility that preserves the tradition of Italian made craftsmanship.
